Associate Development Program – Rockline’s most valued assets are its people and the knowledge and experience these people possess. To nurture and cultivate our associates potential and skills, Rockline has established an Associate Development Program. This program consists of two development tracks.
Personal Development Track – This track covers reimbursement for a formal education that an associate is principally receiving for personal gain, but may in some way benefit Rockline.
Professional Development Track – Through this track, we provide extensive on the job training. This track also covers payment for professional development training (such as seminars or training classes) that will directly benefit an associate and their current position.
Corporate Job Posting Policy – Rockline Industries is dedicated to assisting Associates in pursuing and reaching their professional goals through internal promotion and transfer opportunities. The Rockline Industries Corporate Internal job Posting Policy enables Associates to apply for and align themselves with open positions of interest.
Transfers or promotions are made on the basis of skill and ability and will include factors such as:
• Education
• Relevant Experience
• Technical Knowledge
• Work Record
• Aptitude Testing
Postings are placed on site bulletin boards and via Rockline e-mail for a period of one week (7 calendar days). Postings are specifically communicated in the following ways.
• Management position openings will be communicated throughout all Rockline facilities
• Salaried position openings will be communicated in Europe and/or the United States facilities dependent upon the location and level of the open position.
• All Non-Exempt and Hourly position openings will be posted at the facility of the opening
Through this policy, associates are able to align themselves and their skills with opportunities of importance for future career growth.
High Performance Operating Teams – A High Performance Operating Team (HPOT) is a group of cross-trained associates who work together as a self-directed team to meet or exceed safety, quality, production goals and customer expectations. Rockline embraces this employee empowered philosophy. The majority of our employees at our manufacturing sites are part of HPOT teams. These associates make decisions that affect their work area and are trained in areas to increase knowledge of the overall business model. At the base of any High Performance Operating Team are teamwork, flexibility and continued learning and growth.
Teamwork - Teamwork simply stated means “less me and more we”. In an HPOT environment, associates are responsible for asking the questions and, with the assistance of a team of resources, finding the answers. There is room for personal growth in an HPOT environment. Associates will be specifically trained in communication, conflict resolution, diversity and teambuilding. All of these skills are beneficial to associates at Rockline and outside the workplace as well.
Flexibility - Associates working in High Performance Operating Teams receive training on all machines in their work area. This allows for more efficient scheduling, less down time and higher skills for each associate. HPOT places accountability and decision making on teams which allows for fewer levels of supervision and higher levels of wage for operators.
Training - To reach the goal of a High Performance Operating Team, associates are given on-site classroom training in the following areas:
Safety
Quality
Productivity/Cost
Lean Manufacturing
Soft Skills
Beyond classroom training, associates receive technical/mechanical training on machines. The goal is to bring associates in as operators and through this training allow them to grow into machine specialists.
